Join our 300 Hour Teacher Training program in 2020! Our advanced teacher training program is appropriate for yogis who are certified at the 200 hour level and would like to deepen their knowledge, hone their teaching skills, learn more about building their yoga business and grow and develop as a person. Actively teaching yoga is not a prerequisite for this program. Those wanting to deepen their knowledge and scope of yoga in a group of like-minded yogis are also welcome. Our program meets on weekends only making it accessible for those who work standard business hours.
In our 300 hour program you’ll get 270 contact hours (the minimum required by Yoga Alliance to be considered a Yoga Alliance approved yoga school) and 30 hours of homework. There are many unique features of our program that set it apart from other trainings. You’ll have opportunities to teach community classes, assist and observe classes at our studio throughout the year. During our weekends together you’ll have practice teaching sections to showcase your favorite type of yoga/teaching style and receive specific, helpful feedback. Built into the program tuition is an annual unlimited membership to Wonder Yoga and you’ll be able to choose 4 different workshops to attend during the course of the training (also included in the tuition fee.) We believe that it is vital to keep up your own yoga practice while taking this teacher training especially if you’re actively teaching yoga. Practicing yoga is essential for informing your teaching and keeping your passion alive.
Our program features modules on yoga philosophy, history and lifestyle; yoga anatomy; sequencing, verbal cues, modifications; chakras and energetics; pranayama; the art of assisting, functional movement; teaching methodology; prenatal yoga, vinyasa, hatha, gentle, restorative and power yoga; ethics of teaching yoga; meditation; teaching workshops and private yoga lessons; building your yoga business, creating themes for classes and more.
Upon completion of our program you will have a wealth of information and hands on experience. You will set yourself apart as the yoga industry is becoming increasingly competitive. You’ll deepen your own yoga practice, develop more experience with meditation, strengthen your confidence and gain clarity on what makes you uniquely special. You’ll grow, be challenged and supported to find your voice and lead with your best, most authentic self. When looking back over this year together you’ll be amazed at yourself and probably have a group of new best friends. We can’t wait to grow with you!

Josh is a Yin Yoga teacher, a licensed acupuncturist, and a meditation instructor. Josh began studying Iyengar yoga in the early nineties with James Murphy in New York City. Since then, he has spent several years living abroad in India, Taiwan and Burma where he has studied both yoga and meditation. As his interest in vipassana or insight meditation developed so too did his interest in more contemplative forms of yoga practice. With a professional background in Oriental Medicine and a personal passion for the dharma, Josh fell in love with Yin Yoga as a beautiful synthesis of the two. Josh founded the Summers School of Yin Yoga and now teaches workshops and trainings throughout the United States and Europe.

Esteban da Cruz E-RYT 200
Lost and confused about my path in life; plunging into the rabbit-hole of destructive habits; brought to the mat by an incapacitating back injury, I experienced—and then immersed myself head-first—in the physical, mental and spiritual practices of yoga and Buddhism. Since that moment, I have gone through several teacher trainings and studied with some of the most senior teachers in the Boston area. Since becoming a stay-at-home father, I have taken all the teachings passed on to me by my teachers and applied them in an ever-deepening daily home practice. If I am not practicing meditation and yoga, studying, or writing, I am sharing precious time with my beautiful family.
My backgrounds are originally in the classical Iyengar and Ashtanga lineages, though my practice has synthesized those roots with everything I have learned through the study of biomechanics and anatomy, eastern philosophy and meditation, and personal experience practicing, into a mindful slow-moving vinyasa with attention to breath and a focus on creating external alignment in order to observe internal patterns.
My goal is to guide students towards a deeper connection with themselves, so that they may begin to notice their habits and steer in a direction in which they can begin to live intentionally, from the inside-out, instead of feeling helpless to find direction in the maelstrom of the world. Ultimately, I humbly assist students as they walk their own journey of self-discovery, so that they may move towards joy, thoughtfulness, health, and fulfillment.

Shortly after starting my corporate career about 15 years, I also found my yoga practice and now I have no idea what I would do without it. Yoga grounds me, it is the way I connect to myself and how I am able to live in relationship to others. When I decided to sign up for teacher training I had no intentions of teaching any public classes. I have a demanding job in tech and never thought I would find the time. It was strictly to deepen my personal practice and connect more with my local yoga community. Once I graduated I realized there was no way I could not share this knowledge with others and I began my teaching career. Since then the desire for deeper knowledge and training only became louder. I have been experimenting with holistic and alternative medicines and diets since I was a teenager. I was on a constant search for the lifestyle guidelines that made sense to me and my body. I tried them all! When I found Ayurveda through my yoga community I knew my experimenting days were over. This science is based on the innate knowledge that is already within us that we simply need to tune in to. It was exactly what I was always searching for! My studying began nontraditionally at first, reading and going to lectures on my own, beginning my daily routines, trying a seasonal cleanse, noticing how my environment impacted my body and my mind. Once I was able to enroll in the Down Under Ayurveda School things really changed for me. I first enrolled in 2017 in the 200 hr Ayurveda Fundamentals Program and upon completion immediately signed up for the 650hr Ayurveda Health Counselor Program. It is the first of its kind at the Down Under School and a privilege to be a part of. Learning how to take better care of myself and help those around me has been the most exciting and inspiring shift in my life. As I begin to build up my cliental and spread the teachings of Ayurveda to others, I know I am doing exactly what I am meant to be doing and where I am supposed to be. I am grateful for each day I get to bring the combination of Yoga and Ayurveda into peoples lives. This will never feel like a job!
