Roll and Restore: A Relaxation Journey
Explore rest through the complementary practices of myofascial release, gentle movement, and restorative yoga with Becky Bartolick.
We will begin by using therapy balls to apply slow, focused pressure to areas of tension throughout the body. This practice, known as myofascial release, works with the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles. While stretching can help relieve muscular tightness, the fascia sometimes benefits from more direct pressure to encourage release, improve mobility, and reduce unnecessary tension.
After rolling, we will move through a gentle yoga flow designed to help the body integrate the effects of the self-massage practice. The workshop will conclude with a series of long-held restorative postures using blankets, bolsters, and other supportive props.
Both myofascial release and restorative yoga can help signal to the nervous system that it is safe to soften. By placing the body in comfortable, supported positions and bringing gentle attention to the breath, we create the conditions for deeper relaxation, improved circulation, and reduced muscular tension.
