Learn how to activate as well as relax and release the floor of your core through postural alignment, functional movement and yoga practice. Start the journey to better bowel and bladder function, alleviate low back and pelvic pain and find your core power. The class will be led by a pelvic health physical therapist and yoga teacher with a passion for helping people of all ages and gender identities lead happier, healthier lives through better pelvic and abdominal wellness. The class will guide you through simple breathing techniques and muscle exercises to bring awareness to your pelvic floor function and intraabdominal pressure management. There will be an introduction to pelvic girdle and pelvic floor anatomy including nervous system connections. We will then review functions of healthy pelvic floor muscles vs common dysfunctions and related symptoms. The instructor will guide the class through pelvic floor relaxation strategies for the short/tight or overactive pelvic floor to improve stress and anxiety management strategies as well as alleviate pelvic pain and improve bowel movements, bladder emptying and sexual health. We will then do a beginner Vinyasa yoga practice together followed by a Yin yoga practice and Yoga Nidra with pelvic floor cuing. Time will be made for interspersed Q&A and the instructor will be available at the end of class for questions and discussion.

Lynn Grey-Meltzer
Dr. Lynn Gray-Meltzer (she/her/hers) got her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2014. She went on to do an Orthopedic PT Residency, then became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS through the APTA), Women’s and Pelvic Health Certified Specialist (WCS through the APTA, CAPP-Pelvic and OB) and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (Klose Training). She did her 200-hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training through Soma Yoga Institute in 2023. She is currently working on an Integrative Lifestyle Medicine Certificate through Ginger Garner’s Living Well Institute.
Lynn wanted to move beyond a purely insurance-based model in an outpatient hospital setting to treat patients more holistically and oversee long term wellness maintenance plans. To follow her dream of being a “primary care PT” and passion for solving education and equity problems in healthcare, she founded her own private practice, KnowledgeABLE Body Wellness Institute, PLLC, to provide integrative PT, lifestyle medicine coaching and vital education in her community. Lynn is also a mom (to two daughters and Chachee the dog), wife, exercising-with-kids enthusiast and runner (sometimes). She has special interests in pregnancy and postpartum wellness, pelvic and back pain rehabilitation, cervicogenic headaches, and biomechanics and posture retraining for injury prevention.
