Join Wonder Yoga’s Amanda Vallimont for this special workshop combining the healing power of movement through yoga with the hands-on healing practice of reiki.
WHAT IS REIKI?
Breathwork is an active form of Meditation and Somatic healing practice. It uses a three-part rhythmic breathing pattern that quickly quiets our more dominant “thinking” mind and helps cleanse the body and nervous system of emotional and energetic blockages so we can be more present in our daily lives. When we bring mindfulness and purpose to breathing it can re-center and ground your body fast. It is an experience that feels like returning home and is exactly what we all need right now. By the end, we will feel recharged and renewed to start our week fresh.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese characters: rei, meaning universal spirit, and ki, meaning life force or energy. We, as do all things, vibrate with energy. Sometimes we vibrate at high frequencies that resonate and integrate with ease with the world around us. At other times we experience dissonance and disease. Both reiki and yoga seek to connect us to the vibrational world around us and bring a sense of balance and grounding to the body and mind. So why not combine them?
In this thoughtfully sequenced yoga class, you will hold poses that intentionally target the seven major chakras, energy centers of the body, while experiencing the unique healing modality of reiki through hands on assists. You will be encouraged to be still, open up, to let down your guard, and to connect to the people and world around you.
No prior experience or knowing of yoga or reiki are required. Space is limited to allow for the time for meaningful hands-on assists. Please dress in layers and bring a blanket if you tend to get cold while lying still.
