Yin & Vin: A Yoga, Meditation & Ritual workshop with Allison Jones

Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox and play with the balance between light and dark. Explore your masculine and feminine energy and how one might be overly dominant in your life. Our modern fast-paced lives are often so busy that we have to live from our masculine energy most of the time. Many of us are really good at doing but find it difficult to get quiet or just be. This constantly busy state can cut us off from our intuition, creativity, and our true selves.

You’ll have a chance to practice stillness, balance your energy and stoke the fires of your inner creativity with this 2.5-hour workshop. This workshop is open to yogis of all genders, orientations, and identities.

We’ll begin with an exploration of several types of breath-work or pranayama to experience the power that the breath has on our energy and mood. We’ll move into a 2 part asana practice – the first half will feature vinyasa designed to warm and open our bodies and minds. The second half will feature yin yoga designed to deepen and ground. A guided meditation follows along with a short writing exercise to set some intentions for the fall season. End class with an extended reiki-infused savasana.

Space is limited so pre-registration is encouraged.

Workshop Details

  • The classes will take place for 2.5 hours on Friday, September 29th.
  • The workshop will take place at Wonder Yoga in Arlington, MA.

Meet Allison Jones

Allison Jones found yoga in 2004 during her senior year at Wellesley College. Just when her new adult life was supposed to take off she hit rock bottom with alcoholism and bulimia. She became involved with a 12 step program and discovered yoga and insight (Vipassana) meditation. Yoga helped her to deal with anxiety, feel strong and flexible in body & mind, become comfortable in her own skin and gain confidence. Several years into her own healing journey, she realized that she wanted to help others experience the benefits of yoga and meditation. Allison believes that her true vocation is to be a source of inspiration for people. Today her laughter is infectious and her personality lights up the room. She strives to make her classes challenging yet accessible to students of all levels. She likes creative and smart sequencing and is always learning more to create an awesome yoga class experience for her students.

Allison’s yoga training includes:

  • 200 Hour Yoga Alliance certification through Open Doors Power Yoga January 2009
  • 85 Hour Prenatal Yoga Alliance certification through Barrett Reinhorn March 2013
  • Certified yogastrologer ® with Yogastrology® September 2014
  • Core Strength Vinyasa Virtual Training Module with Sadie Nardini October 2015
