Join Wonder Yoga co-owner and Yogastrologer® Allison Jones for a Summer Solstice Celebration! Just 1 day after the Solstice is exact, we’ll blend a yoga practice with meditation, dance and art. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and is associated with fertility, power, strength and fullness of life. Connect with nature and honor this powerful change of seasons with a series of Sun Salutations performed in a mandala (circle) style to mimic the Sun and its orbit.
The Solstice marks the Sun’s entry into the zodiac sign of Cancer – the first water sign of the zodiac. The water element corresponds to the emotional layer – the manomaya kosha and is yin or feminine. Our practice will include more circular than linear movement to balance out the very yang or masculine energy of the Sun.
The Summer Solstice is also about halfway through the calendar year. Create a sankalpa (sanskrit for an intention formed by the heart and mind) to shape the next three months before the wheel turns again at the Autumnal Equinox.
No previous yoga experience is necessary. All levels welcome.
Event price = $32 for members; $40 for non-members
